Handloom Is Having a Moment — Here's Why It Matters
Slow, skilled and made to last: why woven-by-hand fabric is finding a new generation of fans.
By Mira Sen

Walk into almost any young designer's studio this season and you will find a bolt of handwoven cloth on the table.
Handloom fabric has small irregularities that machines cannot copy. Those little shifts in texture are what make each piece feel alive.

How to shop for it
Buying handloom also supports weavers whose skills have been passed down for generations. Many clusters are now selling directly, making it easier to know exactly who made what you wear.
“Every slub in the weave is a fingerprint of the person who made it.”
Care is simple: wash gently in cold water, dry in the shade and store folded with a little air around it.
